multi-asset due diligence
In respect of the acquisition of a multi-asset multi-manager business by
our client, we undertook a due diligence to determine competitive advantage
and potential for innovation. Aspects considered included the activities of the
investment team, their remuneration, the investment tools they use, the potential
for sustained cost savings, and the likelihood of a sustained rise in funds under
management and/or advice. Our report was well received by the Board and we were
invited to facilitate the post–acquisition implementation phase for our recommendations.

industry super fund review
The fund wanted to assess whether their existing capabilities and processes were sufficient
to successfully support their medium term strategic plan to double funds under management over
the next 5 years and to maintain sound investment performance whilst doing so. A major report
was prepared for the Board with numerous recommendations in respect of investment team structure
and capability, and the Chairman described our report as the most influential body of work in the
history of the Fund.

multi-manager integration
This was a post-acquisition project to integrate two Australian based multi-manager businesses
and involved reviewing the asset allocation and manager selection settings for two similar
families of unitised trust vehicles with a view to rationalising them into the one coherent
set of offerings to clients. Extensive Board papers were prepared and comprehensive stakeholder
engagement was undertaken, all of which was very well received.

wealth business restructure
To implement a major restructure of a large investment platform, a comprehensive project
plan was developed and implemented. This covered numerous investment manager selection exercises
(spanning multiple asset classes) and the subsequent transition of assets was the largest on a
global basis for many years. The transition was also done discretely and efficiently leading
to exceptionally low implementation costs. The project also required the co-ordination of the
production and distribution of a large number of due diligence documents, all of which were
very well received.

insurance company recalibration
Two internal portfolio teams needed help to resolve barriers to improving their investment
performance and decision making. We were able to identify that the investment processes of
both teams required some end-to-end re-calibration and re-alignment (spanning from research
ideas to execution) in order lift investment performance. A significant portfolio exposure
adjustment took place following these reviews, and subsequent investment performance
noticeably lifted. The feedback from team members was very positive, with the collaborative
approach taken working to both lift morale and deepen understanding of investment processes.
